F.A.Q.
What?
Each week I try to do something that I probably won't be able to do. I'm setting myself up for failure, but I'm trying to succeed.
How do you define "probably won't be able to do?"
It's loose but definite. The tasks shouldn't be things I can definitely do with a few tries ("Get a girl's phone number") or things I definitely cannot do ("Become my own grandpa"). They should just make you think, "Yeah, that won't happen." If I succeed, you should be surprised.
Rules?
- PRIME DIRECTIVE: If the task involves any kind of persuasion of other people, I can't mention the fact that I'm doing this project. So if the task is "Get a job as an on-air TV personality," I can't tell people "Hey, give me a job and I'll put it on my blog." Nothing like that.
- TEMPORAL DIRECTIVE: Each task has a time limit of one week. If timing is important I might choose to schedule tasks accordingly. So for "Get elected to public office," I'd probably wait until election week. But once I choose a task for a specific week, if I don't accomplish it before Sunday night at midnight, I've officially failed.
- LEGAL DIRECTIVE: The task itself can't be illegal.
What's your deal?
Professionally I'm a web programmer. In my spare time I perform improv comedy, write and direct web videos, and tinker with a bunch of different projects.
Ok.
Ok.
